Digital Learning for the Future

Chiung-Yu Chen, Director of the Education Center

To cultivate all-rounded and high-quality medical professionals, our hospital has developed various continuing education courses. Besides face to face learning we have also set up a digital learning system so that the entire hospital staff is not limited by time and space and can learn professional knowledge or general courses at any time. This digital learning system was carried out to achieve holistic health care training. This system was started since 2007 by introducing software to customize and ameliorate based on staff needs. In recent years, digital learning courses have played an important role in ensuring uninterrupted learning. The features of this system are as follows:

1.Unlimited access: The following measures were adopted to allow logging in for reading and learning at any time and place without device limitations:

◆The digital learning system does not restrict device IP and staff can freely login outside of the hospital.

◆The MP4 format is used for digital videos, which is suitable for different device browsers, such as PC, MAC, Android and iOS mobile phones, and tablets.

2.Different search functions: As there are many digital learning courses (around 300-400 a year), further classification by category, keyword, and job family were designed to facilitate searching. These functions are shown in Figures 1-3.

3.Learning allocation based on personal time: Staff does not need to finish watching the video in one shot and can view in segments based on their demand.

4.Learning outcomes survey: A satisfaction survey or posttest could be carried out after the class to understand the learning outcomes.

5.Convenient personal learning journey enquiry and download: Staff can view and download their learning record.

The digital learning system will record knowledge content for current and future information acquisition and review by staff. This will lay the foundation for future medical care.
